iFoods.tv

Social web sites seem to make most sense when they are themed in some way. The only other successful alternative is to make them so big (hello, MySpace) that however you shake them something interesting is almost certain to fall out.

Most sites don’t have that luxury though. Today I found iFoods.tv, which is a site about cooking and cookery. The content is supposed to be user-generated and it will be interesting to see if enough users actually do generate enough content to keep the site lively. However, since the site has been founded by two chefs, Niall Harbison and Pieter Plaetinck, they will no doubt be able to fill the site with content that will keep people coming back until the user-generated content starts arriving.

iFoods.tv: the initial home page

The site looks nice. It has a simple design, which is all that it probably needs, and the videos (I watched the Tomato Soup one) come with printable lists of ingredients. I will make a note to come back in a couple of months to see what has happened.

Of course, it goes without saying that they lose points for calling the site iFoods.
