Naa was feeling very ill this morning but gamely got up to do her final examination. She was determined to finish. Today’s exam is religion, which she has already passed. She is doing it again to try to improve her grade, so she can approach it in a fairly relaxed way.

I spent the morning leading the opening session of Web Analysis and Social Media. I did a longer-than-usual history of media lecture, focusing on McLuhan and Illich.

Now it is midday and the group has stopped for lunch. There is supposed to be a solar eclipse of impressive magnitude now, and here it is. The sky is cloudy and some people are saying that it is a different colour to usual. Some people would though, wouldn’t they.

The group will reconvene in the afternoon and we will go through the theory and practice of McLuhan’s Tetrads.

I will then switch to preparing slides for the new video, before beginning to back up everything in preparation for Monday’s trip to Odense. I will find that I am trying to learn not only by doing, but also while doing, and I will suffer distractions.

I will realise that a human being in perfection ought always to preserve a calm and peaceful mind, and never allow passion or a transitory desire to disturb his tranquility.

I do not think that the pursuit of knowledge is an exception to this rule.
