Eurovision: finns choose wrong entry

Although many people think that Finns are unavoidably wacky as a result of cultural artifacts like The Leningrad Cowboys and the record-breaking Eurovision entry that was Lordi’s Hard Rock Hallelujah, the cultural climate is quite often conservative. We saw this quite clearly tonight in the televised finals to choose this year’s entry for the contest that will be held in Oslo sometime in summer.

London: I’m not sure about this

I am in London for a one-day conference at the London Knowledge Labs. I have been staying in a hotel in Clapham, where I have been surprised by the stuffy heat of the room, and the sheer amount of people available to bump into me.

epub: the basics

When I first looked at e-books several years ago there was a format war going on to no very great effect. Today, as e-readers seem poised to finally go mainstream, it looks as though there are two formats that are becoming standard: pdf and epub. This article begins looking at the epub format.

WordPress: choosing a portfolio theme

The pupose of an online portfolio is to enable you to point future employers or clients to one single site on the web where they can make a preliminary assessment of you.

Momentary Days

This is a photographic diary of 2010: one photograph per day with a small or large caption, depending on this and/or that.

Momentary Days

At some time every day I take a photograph of wherever I happen to be, and then make some short notes about it. Its a visual diary with written clues for the time when memory loss kicks in.
