Hello Denver

If my calculations are correct the journey I have just been on took twenty hours from door to door. I left the house in Helsinki at 06:45, to walk to Itäkeskus where I caught a bus to the airport. At this time on a Saturday the 519 only runs once an hour so 06:45 was just right to catch the bus but too early to catch the plane.

London: I’m not sure about this

I am in London for a one-day conference at the London Knowledge Labs. I have been staying in a hotel in Clapham, where I have been surprised by the stuffy heat of the room, and the sheer amount of people available to bump into me.

One Week in London

I arrived in London last Monday for meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday. I realised that since I was getting a return ticket I could usefully spend the rest of the week here, and so I did. This morning, as I walked from the Lodge to Clapham South tube station (where I was to discover that all service had been suspended for the weekend for vital engineering works) an old Routemaster bus passed me by. It had been suitably refurbished and was waiting to be hired for some advertising event or the like.

Places

Since 2000, I have been trying to keep records of places I have visited or spent time. Sometimes these are tourist snapshots, and sometimes they focus on one particular element of a place.

The Daily Tweet

has abandoned the waiting routine and is at Benitas using the new, free wifi. Hooray for Benita, I say!
