Manna La Roosa, Tallinn, 19:30
This morning Bryan gave his public lecture and more people attended than we had expected. It lasted a long time and went very well. About eight people stayed to join Bryan for lunch but I skipped this. During lunch Bryan got an invitation to Hanken for Thursday which, for different reasons, pleased both him and Nathalie.
At 15:30 Liisa and I left for the harbour and caught the MS Superstar to Tallinn. We arrived in the pouring rain and got a taxi to the hotel, which turned out to be about two hundred metres from the harbour. The rooms at the Inn in the Park Scandic Central, to give it its full name, turned out to be very spacious and very comfortable.
The rain has stopped and we feel decidedly hungry. We head off to somewhere that Liisa remembers but see Manna La Roosa on the way. Liisa also remembers this so we go in and have a delicious and surprisingly cheap meal. The restaurant seems like the work of an interior designer who believed that no excess could prove excessive. Everywhere is painted or hung with something that precisely fails to match everything else.
I will notice a woman on the next table eating something out of a small suitcase, and ask what it is. When we hear the words creme brulee we will both order one.
After this we will walk home and retire to our rooms. I will forget to watch television.
