I have returned from a long walk in which I listened to Brown’s Home Brew for the first time in years. The Together album came with me from London to Helsinki in 1999, along with a couple of ultra-rare Larry Norman albums. Finally I have it digitised, and on my phone.

I had forgotten how much I liked Brown’s Home Brew: a fantastic band that got ignored, possibly because Joe Brown led it. Vicki Brown has one of the best white soul voices in the history of British popular music.

I return to a joulutorttu, or joulutähti as we sometimes call it. A Finnish Christmas delicacy that I love, and others in the family don’t or didn’t.
