The three-day temple festival starts tomorrow, or does it. A question to ponder: when does a soundcheck become Day Zero of the festival? When it lasts an hour; two hours; four hours?

We contemplate this as we walk down to Kovalam Junction to try the Emaar Kitchen, an Indian-Arabian restaurant we have passed by for years but never entered. The menu seems very limited compared to Raahat, which might explain why we have the restaurant to ourselves. On the other hand the food tastes delicious and my blueberry cheesecake deserved photographing. (I tried but the light made it look like mud instead of the deep blue I could see in front of me.)

On the way home, as the ”soundcheck” continues, I photograph the road.
