Coney Street, York, 15:12

Yesterday afternoon we caught the train to Leeds to spend a couple of days with Luke and Alice. They took as to a Keralan restaurant where the food tasted absolutely authentic.

They suggested we should visit York today and so off we went. We find The Shambles and walk around the little streets that have become sadly ruined by their connection to the Harry Potter movies. The Shambles has three shops related to Harry Potter and all of them have queues that dominate the entire space. One of them has a queue that snakes down two whole streets and turns the atmosphere in the already narrow spaces from interesting to oppressive.

We walk around the other areas and come across some quirky street paintings in Coney Street, made quirkier than they perhaps deserve by the context in which they sit.

We will spend the evening with Luke and Alice. Alice will make a great Korean curry. Luke and I will go for a walk around a ruined abbey while talking about crypto, NFTs, ftps, daos and other acronyms.

I will mention Vinay Gupta, the founder of Matterium, as an example of somebody trying to put forward a blockchain–based solution to a problem I recognise as genuine. Luke will raise daos as a similar example and I will promise to explore them.
