Petr Skrabanek: due for a comeback

Petr Skrabanek was a epidemiologist who wrote three books that rank alongside Medical Nemisis (by Ivan Illich, fact fans) as well-informed yet thoroughly sceptical investigations into the effects of industrialised medicine and pseudo-science.

Ben Goldacre has posted an article at badscience.net about the fact that his books are now all available as free pdf files from the Skrabanek Foundation. You can download them from here and the one that both Dr Goldacre and I would like to prescribe is Follies and Fallacies in Medicine.

That is the one I remember reading, or the one that impressed me most. (Which probably says more about my agenda at the time than the quality of the other two books.)
